Drawing on Akichi
Landcscape Architecture.. as a field of study and trying to broaden my chances at future employment unthreatened by AI.
These drawings draw on an itch that I feel needs to be scratched concerning the many empty plots of land or ‘akichi’ found across Japan where empty homes and buildings have been demolished and not replaced with new buildings.
I propose - perhaps this is a Eurocentric or maybe English-centric way of thinkng - that more green and gardens could replace these gravelly wastelands ubiquitous across Japan. They could be used to grow food, or as just green spaces for people and wildlife to enjoy.
Maybe I am being idealistic, there are many insects that people may not want to encourage - but should that really be a human choice? More flowers at least? Maybe not more mozzies..
is this insulting to zen gardens?
